UNESCO at the World Urban Forum 3
UNESCO and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCU) were presented at the World Urban Forum at a stand which housed two exhibitions and where several informal debates were hosted, showcasing the variety of UNESCO's city-related activities. Debates such as Education and Sustainable Development, the Role of Women in Local Government Life and Local Democracy, as well as Historic Urban Landscapes were held, among others, during lunch and coffee breaks. Megacities - Improving Urban Lives
The German Federal MThe German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ, the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Helmholtz Association presented their international research programmes on Megacitie,s as well as sustainable urban development projects. Attendees were invited to have a look at what we do, meet the researchers, share their knowledge, or just relax at the German Pavilion and watch the World Cup. More info (pdf format - 1 MB).
