Organization Description |
1. The International Network of Resource centres on Urban Agriculture and Food security (RUAF Foundation) is an international, multi-cultural network of regional and international organisations, located in Lima (Peru), Dakar (Senegal), Accra (Ghana), Harare (Zimbabwe), Hyderabad (India), Beirut (Lebanon), Beijing (China) and the Netherlands, working on alleviating poverty, generating employment and food security by creating enabling conditions for the practice of urban and peri-urban agriculture. The RUAF Foundation works to facilitate the integration of urban agriculture in the policies and action programmes of local governments, technical departments, research centres and NGO’s, and supports the empowerment of urban farmers.
2. The International Development Research Centre is a public corporation created by the Parliament of Canada in 1970 to help developing countries use science and technology to find practical, long-term solutions of the social, economic and environmental problems they face. Support is directed toward developing an indigenous research capacity to sustain policies and technologies developing countries need to build healthier, more equitable and more prosperous societies.
