Title From Planning Urban Transport to Building Integrated Cities
Day / Time Wednesday, June 21st / 16:30 - 18:30
Room MR16
Event Description This event will describe a process based upon an integrated approach on creating sustainable cities and towns, focused on the connection transport-building-housing-planning. Cooperation between different levels of administration is a key feature in sustainable urban development, as well as coordination between different planning processes. This means one must see the inter-relationship between transport, business, housing and people. The purpose is to stimulate integration and shared decision-making between private and public interests, as well as involving citizens. This calls for the courage to look ahead and ask how the transport system can benefit from community development and a sound urban environment. Today it is not enough for public authorities to act within demarcated areas of responsibility. A cooperation is required across borders, between all parties who work within the building and transport system and have an impact on the system.
