Title Planning Successful Sustainable Cities: Case Study Vancouver, Canada Day / Time Tuesday, June 20th / 13:30 - 15:30 Room MR01 Event Description Vancouver is recognized as one of the world’s most liveable cities. Senior City officials will share their experiences in establishing sustainable governance, financing, and planning approaches and delivering transportation, social, and infrastructure services. The presentations will focus on innovative local government tools to turn ideas into action. These include techniques for engaging broad public participation in policy planning and program implementation; financing the maintenance of existing infrastructure and provision of new growth related services; design-based management of development; and using partnerships with other governments, business, and the community to implement plans.
