Title Sport as a Tool for Social Inclusion and Development Day / Time Thursday, June 22nd / 16:30 - 18:30 Room Oceanview 1 Event Description This event will consider the ability of sport to help overcome challenges of urbanization. As one of the most popular forms of community engagement, sport initiatives have the potential to raise awareness and dispel myths concerning healthy practices; to create role models and community leaders; to involve those groups often lying at the margins of community participation, including street children, those affected with HIV/AIDS and disabled youth; and to promote methods of upgrading the physical environment. Further, sport provides an opportunity to bring different cultures together towards a positive common goal.
