WUF3 GREENING INITIATIVE:
Guidelines for Greening of Exhibits
As an exhibitor at WUF3, you have the opportunity to play a vital role in making
WUF3 sustainable. Below is a list of suggested actions that you can take in
making your exhibit and promotional materials green.
General
- Choose decorations and display materials that can be reused or recycled
- Bring only what you need to the event and take away what you cannot hand out
Promotional items should be:
- Made from recycled or reused materials where possible
- Reusable, durable and/or consumable as opposed to disposable (i.e. travel
mugs, tote bags or fair trade chocolates with company logo)
- Minimally packaged
- Manufactured with minimal use of toxic substances
Print materials should be:
- Avoided whenever possible in favour of electronic forms of communication such
as CDs or making PDF files available for download via a USB port; collect
business cards from those who would like more information and use the web, email
or post to meet excess demand
- Printed on chlorine-free, recycled paper, with high post-consumer content;
goldenrod or fluorescent coloured paper should be avoided
- Double-sided
- Printed with vegetable or soy based ink (solvent-based inks should be avoided)
- Generic; use of information, dates and logos that are event specific should be
avoided to ensure materials can be reused
Packing
- Pack so that all materials that you bring can be shipped back
- When possible, use recyclable and biodegradable materials for packing such as
paper and corrugated boxes
- Ensure that any recyclable packing that is not to be reused is recycled
