About The Role of the Government of CanadaIn the spirit of the legacy established in 1976 during the first UN conference on human settlements also held in Vancouver, the Government of Canada, in partnership with UN-HABITAT, will ensure that the Forum provides urban leaders with an opportunity to network with colleagues and potential partners; in addition to generating practical and actionable urban development ideas that delegates can take home to their cities. One of Canada's key responsibilities as host is to ensure follow-up on the actionable ideas conceived in Vancouver. The Government of Canada's efforts to encourage and measure this follow-up include working closely with UN-HABITAT and China - the hosts of WUF4 in 2008 - to ensure continuity and to sustain the momentum generated at WUF3.
